The Bureau of International Recycling (BIR) is the global federation representing the world’s recycling industries, covering ferrous, non-ferrous, stainless steel, paper, plastics and other recycled materials.

The 2026 BIR World Recycling Convention & Exhibition will take place from (31 May) 1–3 June 2026 in Gothenburg, at the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Center Gothia Towers.

Following record registration numbers at the May 2025 Convention and a significant rise in membership—surpassing the milestone of 1,000 active members—the 2026 edition is set to be bigger, bolder, and more impactful. The Gothenburg venue offers a comfortable and well-suited space to accommodate the growing number of participants and exhibitors, reinforcing BIR’s position as the leading global platform for networking, trade collaboration, and policy dialogue in the recycling sector.
