USA: Graphite electrode imports from India surge 80% in Jan-Nov'21
According to customs data, US graphite electrode (GE) imports from India surged 81% to 15,310 t in Jan-Nov'21 on improved demand. The country's sole electrodes producer, GrafTech's European plants had taken maintenance shutdowns in Q3CY'21 forcing American EAF mills to opt for imports. The USA's total GE imports during Jan-Nov stood at 65,032 t, a rise of 35% y-o-y, with Mexico being the top exporter with 19,615 t.
