Indonesia to propose nickel export tax policy to boost revenue
Indonesia is in plans to propose a nickel export tax policy to boost revenue from exports while encouraging domestic production of higher-value products. In 2020, the country banned unprocessed nickel exports to enhance the smelting industry with prospective investments but it led to smelters shifting to producing and exporting nickel pig iron (NPI) and ferronickel with low nickel content.
