Colombia: Attack halts operations in Glencore's Cerrejon mine
On 15 Dec'23, Glencore, Colombia's leading coal miner with 80,000 tonnes/day exports, having produced 19.7 mnt in 2022, experienced an explosive attack on its railway infrastructure. This led to a complete halt of coal operations from the mine to the Bolivar Port, spreading over 150 km apart.
