China to reimpose coal import duties in CY'24

China is planning to restore coal import duties in CY'24, potentially raising import costs from major suppliers. Duty imposition is expected at 3% on coking coal, anthracite, and lignite, and 5-6% for thermal coal from nations without free trade agreements. The implementation of a 20-month zero tariff policy, initiated in May'22, significantly boosted China's coal imports in CY'22 and CY'23.
