China: Ferrous scrap imports drop 24% m-o-m in Aug'24

• China's ferrous scrap imports fell 24% m-o-m to 9,739 t in Aug'24 from 12,764 t in Jul'24. However, imports rose 12% y-o-y from 8,722 t in Aug'23.
• During Jan-Aug'24, imports totalled 109,270 t, a 25% decline from 145,345 t in the CPLY.
• Japan led exports to China in Aug'24, supplying 5,389 t (55% of total imports), followed by South Korea at 22%. Myanmar's imports dropped significantly from 1,071 t in Jul'24 to 285 t in Aug'24.
