World Crude Steel Output Increases by 3.4% in CY'19

According to the recent data released by the World Steel Association (WSA), the total crude steel production of 66 steel manufacturing countries edged up by 3.4% to 1,869.90 MnT in (Jan-Dec) CY'19, which was 1,808.40 MnT for the previous year.

On the monthly premise, the World crude steel output was slightly up by 3% in Dec'19 at 152.12 MnT when compared with 147.89 MnT in Nov'19.

World's crude steel output of major steel-producing countries in CY'19-

China's crude steel output up by 8% in CY'19- Chinese crude steel output increased by 8% to 996.34 MnT in CY'19 as against 920.02 MnT in CY'18. Higher profit margins and strong domestic demand in the last quarter of CY19 propelled steel manufacturers to produce crude steel output.

However, the same rose by 5% M-o-M to 84.27 in Dec'19 from 80.29 MnT in Nov'19.

India's crude steel output increased by 2% in CY'19- According to the World Steel Association (WSA), Indian crude steel production stepped up by 2% at 111.24 MnT in CY'19 against 109.27 MnT in preceding year.

Meanwhile, on an M-o-M basis, production was marginally up by 4% to 9.28 in Dec'19 against 8.93 MnT in the previous month.

Japan's crude steel output down by 5% in CY'19- Japan crude steel output declined by 5% to 99.28 MnT in CY'19 against 104.31 MnT in the previous year. While the same inched up by 1% to 7.78 MnT in Dec'19 against 7.72 MnT in Nov'19.

United States crude steel output increased by 2% in CY'19- USA's crude steel output stood at 87.92 MnT in CY'19, up by 2% as compared to 86.60 MnT in CY'18. Whereas the same witnessed a growth of 5% to 7.46 MnT in Dec'19 against 7.09 MnT in the previous month.

Crude steel production of other top steel-producing countries in CY'19 is as follows Russia: 71.57 MnT, South Korea: 71.42 MnT, Germany at 39.67 MnT, Turkey 33.74 MnT, and Brazil: 32.23 MnT.
