Vizag Steel Starts Process of Resuming Closed BF - Sources

Vizag steel Plant, a corporate entity of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd (RINL) has resumed process of starting one of the blast furnace which was closed since Sept'19 on account of unfavorable market price and high inventory levels.

SteelMint learns that, company has started the pre-heating process last week and charging is scheduled in the first week of Feb'20. If all goes well, optimum production is likely to come by mid March.

The 3,200 cubic meter capacity BF can produce about 6,000 MT hot metal every day.

Vizag Steel is India's largest and state owned producer of longs steel. Company produces around 4.2 MnT finished steel every year.
