Vedanta Reported Highest Ever Pig Iron Production in FY17

Vedanta Resources is one of the largest merchant pig iron supplier in Indian market have registered production growth about 8% to 708,000 MT in FY17.

The company known as prime grade manufacturer for both steel & foundry grade materials and supply it largely to West, South & North regions in domestic market and aggressively exports too.

With ramp up production the company call as one of the largest merchant pig iron producer in the country. Earlier, Neelachal Ispat Nigam Ltd (NINL) was the top producer in domestic market.

Vedanta has installed capacity for pig iron at 630,000 MT, while NINL at 890,000 MT per annum.

According to annual report by Vedanta, with improve efficiency the company achieved its highest ever pig iron production.

Sources mentioned, for FY 17 NINL's production may reach nearly at 6,50,000 MT which is 70-72% as the plant had production limits.

Vedanta reported saleable iron ore production at 10.9 MnT in FY17 against 5.2 MnT in the previous fiscal. Thus, miner's saleable iron ore production also has double amount in FY17.
