USA Steel Import Statistics in Q2CY'19

USA iron ore imports upsurged by 28% in Q2CY'19- USA iron ore imports for the Q2CY'19 witnessed 28% rise to 1.8 MnT as against 1.41 MnT in Q1CY'19.

Nation's iron ore imports for the month of June'19 recorded at 0.66 MnT, down by 15% as against 0.78 MnT a month ago.

However on yearly premise the same surge significantly in Jun'19 as against 0.32 MnT in Jun'18.

Country-wise USA iron ore imports in Q2CY'19- Brazil stood as the largest exporter for the Q2CY'19 witnessed at 0.74 MnT, down by 9% as compared to 0.81 MnT in Q1CY'18.

Followed by Canada at 0.61 MnT, Sweden at 0.14 MnT and Russia at 0.13 MnT in Q2CY'19.

Meanwhile USA also imported iron ore from Chile, Mauritius, Australia, Peru and Venezuela in smaller quantities in Q2CY'19.

USA semi finish imports remain stable Q-o-Q in Q2CY'19- Nation's semi finish imports remained stable at 2.73 MnT in Q2CY'19 over Q1CY'19.

Meanwhile on monthly premise the same witnessed a surge by 27% to 0.85 MnT in Jun'19 which was 0.67 MnT in previous month.

However on yearly basis nation's semi finish imports declined by 14% in Jun'19 as against 0.99 MnT in Jun'18.

Country-wise semi finish imports in Q1CY'19- Nation's semi finish imports from Brazil declined by 14% to 1.1 MnT Q2CY'19 in comparison to 1.28 MnT in Q1CY'19.

Following this nation's imports from Russia spiked by 24% to 1.05 in Q2CY'19 which was 0.85 in preceding quarter.

Meanwhile USA also imported semi finish products from Ukraine, Mexico and South Africa in smaller quantities in Q2CY'19.

USA ferrous scrap imports down by 5% Q-o-Q in Q2CY'19- The country imported 1.09 MnT ferrous scrap in Q2 CY'19, down 5% Q-o-Q as against 1.15 MnT ferrous scrap recorded in Q1 CY'19.

Weak finish steel margin in domestic market in Q2'CY19 could have impacted scrap imports, on the other hand US scrap exports rise significantly in Q2CY'19.

On a monthly basis, scrap imports to USA showed slight fall as the country imported 0.35 MnT in Jun'19 as against 0.37 MnT in May'19 down 5% M-o-M.

Meanwhile on yearly premise, nation's scrap imports registered a fall of 10% in Jun'19 as against 0.39 MnT in Jun'18.

Country-wise USA ferrous scrap imports in Q2CY'19- Canada remained the largest scrap supplier to US in Q2 CY'19 as it exported 0.73 MnT ferrous scrap in Q2CY'19, dropping marginally by 4% from 0.76 MnT in Q1 CY'19.

Other top scrap suppliers to the USA were Mexico at 0.14 MnT, Sweden at 0.09 MnT and Netherlands at 0.03 MnT in Q2CY'19.

USA finish long imports up by 7% Q-o-Q in Q2CY'19- Nation's finish long imports accounted for 0.95 MnT in Q2CY'19 marginally up by 7% in comparison with 0.89 MnT in previous quarter.

However, on monthly basis the same declined by 20% to 0.28 MnT in Jun'19 over 0.35 MnT in preceding month.

On yearly premise nation's finish long imports surged by 27% in Jun'19 as against 0.22 MnT in Jun'18.

Country-wise USA finish long imports in Q2CY'19- USA's finish long imports from Mexico stood at 0.15 MnT in Q2CY'19, spiked by 50% over 0.1 MnT in previous quarter.

Following this nation's import from Canada at 0.12 MnT and Spain at 0.08 MnT in Q2CY'19 remained stable over preceding quarter.

Meanwhile USA also imported finish long products from Italy, Japan, Germany and South Korea in smaller quantities in Q2CY'19.

USA finish flat imports fell 8% Q-o-Q in Q2CY'19- Nation's finish flat imports declined by 8% in Q2CY'19 to 3.65 MnT in comparison to 3.97 in previous quarter.

The imports of finish flat in USA declined amid imposition of Section 232 trade tariffs on imports from several countries. Meanwhile the inventory levels in domestic market increased as demand from major steel consuming sectors remained weak.

However to counter the excess supply in domestic market some major US steel mills in Jul'19 have announced to keep their blast furnaces idle in order to cut production.

On monthly premise nation's finish flat imports stood at 1.13 MnT; down by 6% as against 1.2 MnT in May'19.

However on yearly basis nation's finish flat imports remained stable in Jun'19 over Jun'18.

Country-wise finish flat imports in Q2CY'19- USA majorly imports finish flat products from Canada and accounted for 0.8 MnT in Q2CY'19; tumbled down by 12% as compared to 0.91 MnT in Q1CY'19.

USA's imports from South Korea were marginally up by 5% and stood at 0.59 MnT in Q2CY'19 as against 0.56 MnT in preceding quarter.

Following this USA also imported from Mexico at 0.31 MnT and Germany at 0.2 MnT in Q2CY'19.

Meanwhile USA also imported finish flat from Taiwan, Japan and Vietnam in small quantities in Q2CY'19.

USA ferro alloy imports up by 11% Q-o-Q in Q2CY'19- USA ferro alloy imports increased by 11% in Q2CY'19 to 0.21 MnT as compared to 0.19 MnT in previous quarter.

However on monthly basis the same declined by 13% to 0.07 in Jun'19 as against 0.08 MnT in May'19.

Meanwhile on yearly premise the fall in nation's ferro alloy imports was 13% in Jul'19 as against 0.08 in Jun'18.

Country-wise ferro alloy imports in Q2CY'19- Nation's ferro alloy imports from Australia remained stable on quarterly basis at 0.05 MnT in Q2CY'19 as against previous quarter.

Meanwhile nation's imports of ferro alloy from South Africa upsurged by 33% in Q2CY'19 to 0.04 MnT in comparison with 0.03 MnT in preceding quarter.

However imports from Norway declined by 25% to 0.03 MnT in Q2CY'19 over 0.04 MnT in Q1CY'19.

Following this imports from Georgia and Malaysia witnessed at 0.02 MnT each in Q2CY'19.
