USA Steel Import Statistics in Apr'19

USA Iron Ore Imports Down 14% M-o-M in Apr'19- USA import fell 14% in Apr'19 to 0.36 MnT as against 0.42 MnT in Mar'19.

Nation's iron ore imports declined amid rising supply concerns caused due to movement in Gongo Soco mines in Brazil.

On yearly basis, imports dropped marginally by 5% as compared to 0.38 MnT in Apr'18.

Country-wise USA iron ore imports in Apr'19- Brazil stood as the largest exporter to United States in Apr'19 at 0.07 MnT, down sharply by 73% as against 0.26 MnT in Mar'19.

Imports from Canada witnessed at 0.2 MnT against being nil a month ago followed by Russia at 0.06 MnT.

USA pig iron imports surged by 40% M-o-M in Apr'19- Nation's pig iron imports shot-up by 40% to 0.66 MnT in Apr'19 as compared to 0.47 MnT in preceding month.

Meanwhile, on yearly premise the same reported a significant jump in Apr'19 as compared to 0.4 MnT in corresponding month of previous year.

During first four months (Jan-Apr) CY'19 nation's pig iron registered an increase by 17% to 2.03 MnT which was 1.73 MnT in same time frame previous year.

Country-wise USA pig iron imports in Apr'19- Nation's pig iron imports from Russia substantially increased to 0.44 MnT in comparison with 0.17 MnT in earlier month.

Following this nation's import from Brazil was accounted for 0.07 MnT and Ukraine stood at 0.13 MnT in Apr'19.

Meanwhile USA also imported pig iron from South Africa and Canada in smaller quantities.

USA billet imports jumped on monthly basis in Apr'19- Nation's billet imports stood at 0.55 MnT in Apr'19; ascended by 25% in comparison with 0.44 MnT in preceding month.

Whereas on yearly basis the same declined by 13% in Apr'19 with respect to 0.63 MnT in Apr'18.

During first four months (Jan-Apr) CY'19 nation's billet import inched up by 1% and stood at 1.90 MnT as against 1.89 MnT in same time frame of previous year.

Country-wise USA billet imports in Apr'19- Brazil stood as a major exporter to USA and accounted for 0.43 MnT in Apr'19 against 0.21 MnT a month earlier.

Following this imports from Russia was recorded at 0.05 MnT while Mexico at 0.06 MnT in Apr'19.

USA scrap imports up 3% M-o-M in Apr'19- As per customs data released, ferrous scrap imports from USA marginally increased by 3% M-o-M in Apr'19 to 0.37 MnT as against 0.36 MnT in Mar'19.

On yearly premise, the scrap imports have risen by 12% in Apr'19 as compared to 0.33 MnT in Apr'18.

During first four months (Jan-Apr) CY'19 nation's finish long imports witnessed noticeable rise of 16% to 1.52 MnT as compared to 1.31 MnT in corresponding months of CY'18.

Country-wise USA scrap imports in Apr'19- Canada remained the largest supplier to USA and accounted for 0.25 MnT in Apr'19 observing a drop of 13% M-o-M against 0.29 MnT in Mar'19.

Other major suppliers were Mexico 0.05 MnT while Sweden and Netherlands exported 0.03 MnT of scrap to USA in Apr'19.

USA finish long steel imports increase by 14% M-o-M in Apr'19- USA finish long steel imports registered at 0.32 MnT in Apr'19, increased by 14% against 0.28 MnT in Mar'19.

On yearly premise, the same plummeted by 29% against 0.45 MnT in Apr'18.

During first four months (Jan-Apr) CY'19 nation's finish long imports tumbled 12% to 1.21 MnT as compared to 1.38 MnT in corresponding months of CY'18.

Commodity-wise Rebar imports were registered at 0.22 MnT in Apr'19 (+29%), followed by Structure at 0.05 MnT (-29%) in Apr'19 & Wire rod stood at 0.04 MnT unchanged on a monthly basis.

Country-wise USA Finish Long imports in Apr'19- USA's Finish long steel imports from Canada accounted for 0.04 MnT unchanged over Mar'19.

Following this USA imported from 0.05 MnT from Mexico and Italy accounted for 0.03 MnT in Apr'19.

Meanwhile USA also imported finish long steel from Germany, Japan and Brazil in smaller quantities.

USA flat steel imports up by 6% M-o-M in Apr'19- The nation's flat steel imports stood at 1.32 MnT in Apr'19, increased by 6% in comparison to 1.25 MnT from the previous month.

Meanwhile on yearly premise USA's flat steel imports slashed by 33% in Apr'19 which was 1.96 MnT in the same month of previous year.

During first four months (Jan-Apr)'19 the nation's flat steel imports plunged by 20% to 5.29 MnT as compared to 6.59 MnT in the same time frame of previous year.

Country-wise USA flat steel imports in Apr'19- USA majorly imports from Canada and stood at 0.26 MnT in Apr'19, tumbled by 13% from 0.3 MnT in Mar'19.

Following this USA imported flat steel from South Korea 0.24 MnT, Mexico 0.11 MnT, Germany 0.09 MnT and Taiwan 0.05 MnT in Apr'19.

Meanwhile Japan, Vietnam, Russia and Thailand also exported flat steel products to USA in smaller quantities in Apr'19.

USA ferro alloys import shrink by 14% M-o-M in Apr'19- Imports of Ferro Alloys decreased by 14% in the United States in the month of Apr'19 as compared to previous month amid sluggish steel market conditions.

Nation's imports fell from 0.07 MnT in Mar'19 to 0.06 MnT in Apr'19.

Country-wise USA ferro alloys imports in Apr'19- South Africa had a major share in USA's ferro alloys imports and accounted for 0.03 MnT in Apr'19 as against 0.01 MnT a month earlier.

Meanwhile nation's imports from Norway halved to 0.01 MnT in Apr'19 over 0.02 MnT in previous month, followed by Russia at 0.01 MnT in Apr'19.
