USA Imposes Anti Dumping Duty on Turkey & Japan's Rebars

In a move by US Commerce Department, the committee ended up implementing anti-dumping margins on rebar imports from Turkey and Japan after concluding that it was sold at unfair price in US.

According to report, the anti dumping duty on Turkish rebar exporters Habas and Icdas were hit by 5.39% and 8.17% respectively. While other exporters have been smashed with 6.94%. In addition, Turkish exporters have to face anti-subsidy of 16.21%.
Japanese exporter faced very high rates in this final US Commerce Department calculation, with Jonan Steel Corp. and Kyoei Steel Ltd. at 209.46% each and other fellow exporters could face duty of 206.43%.

According to the data maintained by SteelMint, US Import rose progressively Y-o-Y from Turkey and Japan.
In 2016, the imports in US from Japan increase by 10.72% to 268,323 MT as compared to 242,336 MT in 2015. While, from Turkey it fell by 8.25% to 1,352,798 in 2016 against 1,474,457 MT in 2015.
Turkey shipped 186,728 MT to the USA in Mar'17 and 122,833 MT in Apr'17. But there were no shipments landed this month as per the data maintained by us. Although, Japanese exporters had stopped the exports from Mar'17 to US.
A parallel investigation will be carried out by U.S. International Trade Commission, on whether the U.S. producers have been harmed by steel rebar imports from Japan. Its decision is expected on or before June 29.
