United States: Ferrous Scrap Exports Up 6% M-o-M in Aug'17

USA - world's second largest exporter of ferrous scrap after EU-28 (Europe) has witnessed rise in its ferrous scrap exports by 6% M-o-M in Aug'17.
As per recently released customs data, United States registered 1.32 MnT ferrous scrap exports in Aug'17 against 1.24 MnT exports in Jul'17.In yearly comparison, ferrous scrap exports registered fall of 22% Y-o-Y in Aug'17 as ferrous scrap exports were 1.69 MnT in Aug'16.
During the first eight months of CY17 (Jan-Aug'17), United States exported 9.04 MnT ferrous scrap with hike of 12% against 8.04 MnT exports during the same period of last year (Jan-Aug'16.)
Top loading ports in US for scrap shipping activities were Los Angeles, New York City, San Francisco, Philadelphia, and Boston.
Turkey remains top importer of US ferrous scrap -
US continued to supply the highest share of ferrous scrap exports to Turkey (0.37 MnT) again in Aug'17 followed by other major exporters like Mexico (0.18 MnT), Bangladesh (0.13 MnT), Taiwan (0.11 MnT), and India (0.08 MnT) respectively. China, Canada and Pakistan each have imported 0.07 MnT ferrous scrap from US in Aug'17.
India, Pakistan and Bangladesh have increased scrap imports from US -
Bangladesh imported 0.13 MnT ferrous scrap and stood as third largest importer in Aug'17 which is up by 30% against 0.10 MnT scrap import in Jul'17.Bangladesh imported 0.42 MnT ferrous scrap during Jan-Aug'17 out of which 0.30 MnT has imported in last three months (Jun-Aug'17) from US. India imported 0.08 MnT and Pakistan imported 0.07 MnT scrap from US in Aug'17.

Ferrous scrap imports to USA Up 16% M-o-M in Aug'17 -
Ferrous scrap imports in US were at 0.36 MnT in Aug'17, which have increased 16% M-o-M against 0.31 MnT in Jul'17.On yearly basis, imports have declined by 8% Y-o-Y against 0.39 MnT in Aug'16.During first eight months of CY17, total Imports of ferrous scrap in US summed at 3.04 MnT, up 16% against 2.62 MnT imports during Jan-Aug'16.
In Aug'17, Canada remained the highest supplier with 0.29 MnT ferrous scrap exports to US followed by United Kingdom (0.03 MnT), Mexico (0.03 MnT) and Sweden (0.02 MnT) respectively.
Top unloading ports in US for scrap import activities were Detroit, New Orleans, Seattle, Charleston, and Buffalo.
