United States Coal Export Shipments Rise 6.5% M-o-M in Jan'20

U.S. coal exports have increased by 6.50% on a month-on-month basis to 9.85 million metric tons (MnT) in January 2020, as compared to 9.25 MnT in December last year, as per the latest customs data compiled by CoalMint Research.
However, on a year-on-year basis, the country's coal exports fell by 18.1% than the shipment volume of 12.02 MnT in Jan'19.
Moreover, on a year-to-date basis, US coal export shipments have totaled 99.23 MnT in the first ten months of the current fiscal year (Apr'19-Jan'20), down 19.1% against the total exports of 122.65 MnT recorded during the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year (Apr'18-Jan'19).

Major Coal Importers from United States in Jan'20:
India, South Korea, Brazil, Japan and Netherlands were the top five coal receiving countries from the United States in the month of January 2020.
Indian coal imports from the US attained a 5-months high total of 1.77 MnT during Jan'20, as it increased by 65.3% M-o-M from 0.58 MnT in Dec'19.
US coal intake by South Korea rose by a whopping 188.7% M-o-M to 1.04 MnT in Jan'20, as compared to 0.36 MnT in the month ago.
Brazil emerged as the third-largest coal receiver during the month with imports of 8.29 MnT, despite recording a monthly fall in coal volume taken by the country from 0.91 MnT in Dec'19.
