Ukraine: Exports of flat-rolled steel products decrease by 22.6%, m-o-m in July'23

Ukraine's exports of flat steel products fell by 22.6% m-o-m to 95,200 tonnes (t) during July 2023. However, exports of flat products increased by 84.8% y-o-y when compared to same period last year.

The export volumes of flat steel products in January-July 2023 have decreased by 62.3% y-o-y to 5,17,700 t.

The highest volume of exports were of hot-rolled flat products without coating which stood at 67,900 t registering a fall of 23.8% m-o-m compared to 89,100 t in June'23.

The export volumes of the same in January-July 2023 was 3,80,200 t.

The exports of uncoated cold-rolled flat products were in tune of 14,400 t decreasing by 40.5% m-o-m compared to 24,300 t in previous month.

The export volumes of the same in January-July 2023 was 1,04,000 t.

Clad flat-rolled product exports, with galvanic or other coating, amounted to 12,400 t in July2023 an increase of 31.8% m-o-m from 9,460 t in June 2023. Moreover, exports increased to 32,600 t in January-June2023.

The largest consumers of Ukrainian uncoated hot-rolled flat products are Poland and Bulgaria- 52% and 16.1%, respectively. Poland (32.8%), Bulgaria (19.9%) and Portugal (8.8%) together consumed more than 60% of uncoated cold-rolled flat products. Among the main buyers of Ukrainian coated rolled products are Poland (74.5%) and Romania (19.9%).

In July 2023, Ukrainian steelmakers produced 525000 t up 33.6% m-o-m from 3,93,000 t in June 2023. In January-July 2023 2.9 million tonnes (mnt) of rolled products were produced, down by 24.1% on y-o-y.
