Ukraine: Exports of flat-rolled steel products decline m-o-m in Oct'23

Ukraine's exports of flat steel products declined by 34.7% m-o-m to 103,720 tonnes (t) during October 2023. However, exports of flat products increased by 54.7% y-o-y when compared to same period last year.
The export volumes of flat steel products in January-October 2023 have decreased by 42% y-o-y to 889,100 t.
The highest volume of exports were of hot-rolled flat products without coating which stood at 83,470 t registering a fall of 34.1% m-o-m compared to 126,700 t in the previous month.
The export volumes of the same in January-October 2023 was 675,100 t.
The exports of uncoated cold-rolled flat products were in tune of 15,750 t, decreasing by 45.8% m-o-m compared to 29,000 t in the previous month.
The export volumes of the same in January-October 2023 was 166,400 t.
Clad flat-rolled product exports, with galvanic or other coatings, amounted to 4,330 t in October 2023, an increase of 45.3% m-o-m from 2,980 t in September 2023. Moreover, exports increased to 45,490 t in January-October 2023.
The largest consumers of Ukrainian uncoated hot-rolled flat products are Poland and Bulgaria- 46.8% and 18.1%, respectively. Poland (30.3%), Bulgaria (16.9%) and Portugal (8.6%) together consumed more than 60% of uncoated cold-rolled flat products. Among the main buyers of Ukrainian coated rolled products are Poland (74.4%) and Romania (20.1%).
In October 2023, Ukrainian steelmakers produced 436,000 t, down 16.6% m-o-m in October 2023. During January-October 2023, 4.36 million tonnes (mnt) of rolled products were produced, down by 13.1% on y-o-y.
