Ukraine: Billet Exports exceeded 6 MnT in 2017

According to trade statistics released by department state statistics service of Ukraine, the nation has exported about 6.29 MnT billet in the calendar year of 2017.

As per the assessment, it was noticed that Italy was the primary destination of Ukraine billet exports & has imported 30% (1.89 MnT) in 2017, followed by major importers like - Turkey (17.85%), Egypt (16.61%), Algeria (13.59%), Bulgaria (3.92%) & United Kingdom (3.75%).

Further, the exports registered a downfall of 21.68% M-o-M in Dec'17 after continuous rise since Sep'17 & stood at 0.65 MnT against 0.83 MnT in Nov'17. During Dec'17, Italy has imported approximately 0.19 MnT billets from Ukraine.

While, the crude steel production marked a hike by 11.35% to 2.06 MnT in Dec'17 against 1.85 MnT in Nov'17. Meanwhile, in CY17 (Jan'17-Dec'17) the figure of crude steel production stood at 22.24 MnT. Prior to this it was at 24.23 MnT in CY16 & 22.97 MnT in CY15.

United States continues to remain the largest Pig iron buyer of Ukraine -

USA stands out to be the largest importer of Ukrainian pig iron, importing 0.12 MnT in Dec'17, followed by Italy (0.07 MnT) & Turkey (0.02 MnT).

Further in the month of Dec'17, the pig iron exports by the nation to USA remains at firm level since Oct'17 & witnessed an imports of around 50% Ukrainian pig iron in the last month.

USA imported around 55.23% of the total pig iron exported by Ukraine in the calendar year of 2017.

-- The export offers of steel grade Pig Iron are assessed at USD 360-365/MT FoB Russia, USD 375-385/MT FoB Brazil & at USD 385-395/MT FoB India.

-- Presently, the export offers of 150*150 IS 2830 grade billet are at USD 515-525/MT FoB India, 125*125 3SP at USD 540-550/MT FoB Ukraine & 150*150 Q235 are at USD 545-555/MT FoB China.

-- As per sources, a deal of Ukraine-origin pig iron heard to have booked for Turkey in last week at USD 375/MT FoB Black Sea.
