Turkey: Iron Ore Imports Up Significantly in Oct'18

The tenth largest importer of Iron ore, Turkey has recorded increase in iron ore imports for the month of Oct'18. The imports recorded at 1.23 MnT in Oct'18, up two folds on monthly basis as against 0.58 MnT in Sep'18. The Y-o-Y imports witnessed rise of 68% in Oct'18 as against 0.73 MnT in Oct'17.

Turkey's crude steel production increased in Oct'18

Turkey's crude steel production for Oct'18 witnessed at 3.16 MnT, up 7% on monthly basis as against 2.94 MnT in Sep'18. Also, on yearly basis, the output reduced 5% as against Oct'17 production at 3.31 MnT.

Turkey's iron ore imports for the duration Jan-Oct'18 stood at 8.97 MnT, in line with same duration last year at 8.96 MnT.

The non-agglomerated ore (Lumps and Fines) witnessed two folds rise to 0.76 MnT in Oct'18 as against 0.38 MnT in Sep'18. On yearly basis imports increased almost three folds in Oct'18 as against 0.2 MnT in Oct'17.

Agglomerated ore (pellets and concentrates) recorded Oct'18 imports at 0.47 MnT, up sharply more than double as against 0.21 MnT in Sep'18. However, Y-o-Y imports marked 11% decline as compared to Oct'17 imports at 0.53 MnT.

Iron ore imports from Brazil up 34% in Oct'18

Brazil continued to be the largest exporter of iron ore to Turkey in Oct'18 at 0.51 MnT, contributing 41% of total Turkey's import for the month. The imports witnessed increase of 34% M-o-M as against 0.38 MnT a month before.

Imports from Sweden, South Korea and Canada witnessed at 0.22 MnT, 0.17 MnT and 0.17 MnT respectively as against being nil a month before.
