Turkey: Iron Ore Imports Down 46% in Sept'18

The tenth largest importer of Iron ore, Turkey has recorded decline in iron ore imports for the month of Sep'18. The imports recorded at 0.58 MnT in Sep'18, down 46% as against 1.08 MnT in Aug'18. The Y-o-Y imports witnessed fall of 28% in Sep'18 as against 0.81 MnT in Sep'17.
Turkey's crude steel production drops 6% in Sep'18
Turkey's crude steel production for Sep'18 witnessed at 2.82 MnT, down 6% on monthly basis as against 3 MnT in Aug'18. Also, on yearly basis, the output reduced 6% as against Sep'17 production at 3 MnT.
Turkey's iron ore imports for the duration Jan-Sep'18 stood at 7.74 MnT, down 6% as against same duration last year at 8.23 MnT.
The non-agglomerated ore (Lumps and Fines) witnessed a fall of 25% M-o-M in imports to 0.38 MnT in Sep'18 as against 0.51 MnT in Aug'18. However, Y-o-Y imports stood 12% down in Sep'18 as against 0.43 MnT in Sep'17.
Agglomerated ore (pellets and concentrates) recorded Sep'18 imports at 0.21 MnT, down 63% M-o-M as against 0.56 MnT in Aug'18. The Y-o-Y import marked 46% decline as compared to Sep'17 imports at 0.39 MnT.
Iron ore imports from Brazil up 12% in Sep'18
Brazil continued to be the largest exporter of iron ore to Turkey in Sep'18 at 0.38 MnT, contributing 66% of total Turkey's import for the month. The imports witnessed increase of 12% M-o-M as against 0.34 MnT a month before.
Imports from Russia increased two folds on monthly basis at 0.12 MnT in Sep'18 followed by Ukraine at 0.09 MnT (up 50% on monthly basis).
