Turkey Billet Imports decline by 13% in Nov'17

Billet Imports in Turkey went down by around 13% M-o-M in Nov'17 as per the recent released data by Turkey's custom showed.

The nation has imported about 450,000 MT Billet in Nov'17 against 520,000 MT in October 2017, decline by 13.46 % on monthly premises. While on yearly basis, imports were up by 36.36% against 330,000 MT in Nov'16.

Further, in first eleven months of CY 2017 (Jan-Nov), the imports of billet down by 27.46% to 4.20 MnT against same preceding last year at 5.79 MnT.

As per the SteelMint's assessment, the crude steel production of the Turkey was around 3.12 MnT in November 2017 which has been decreased by 6% against 3.31 MnT in Oct'17, and in CY17(Jan-Nov) it was approximately 34.06 MnT. Prior to this it was at 33.16 MnT in CY16 & 31.52 MnT in CY15.

Country wise:

During November 2017, the largest exporter of Billet to Turkey was Russia - 160,000 MT, Brazil - 220,000 MT & Ukraine at 60,000 MT.

Similarly, in the total billet imports during 2017 (Jan-Nov'17), the major sellers of billet to Turkey was - Russia 1.59 MnT (37.87%), Ukraine 1.02 MnT (24.22%), Brazil 0.77 MnT (18.33%), Netherlands 0.12 MnT (2.96%) & Iran 0.12 MnT (2.80%).

1. Turkey's ferrous scrap imports have decreased by 12.61% M-o-M to 1.87 MnT in Nov'17 against 2.14 MnT in Oct'17.

2. The reference index price for US origin HMS (80:20) scrap stood at USD 370/MT, CFR Turkey, prices remains existence level from last week trade activities.

3. In the duration of Dec'17, Turkish Rebar export offers gained by USD 27/MT owing to supportive demand, price assessment at USD 565-570/MT FoB.
