Tata Steel BSL: Iron Ore Sourcing Up Marginally in FY20

Tata Bhushan Steel - a major integrated steelmaker with a capacity of 5.6 MnT has recorded iron ore sourcing at 5.06 MnT in FY'20, up marginally as against 4.95 MnT in FY'19.
Tata Steel supplies have increased significantly for the year FY20 to 3 MnT as against 0.62 MnT in FY'19.
State-owned miner- OMC supplied 1.01 MnT iron ore to the steelmaker in FY'20, down 33% as compared to 1.49 MnT in FY'19. Sourcing from Indrani Patnaik mines recorded a 50% drop to 0.43 MnT.
Serajuddin mines supplies dropped 64% to 0.38 MnT in FY20 as compared to 1.05 MnT in FY19.
As per SteelMint analysis, after Bhushan steel acquisition by Tata steel, the company's sourcing from other miners have been decreased sharply. Out of the total sourcing, 60% of the iron ore supplied by Tata steel.

Tata Steel BSL is planning to expand Bhushan steel capacity from 5.6 MnT to 8.3 MnT. They are also planning to enhance production at its captive iron ore mines around Jamshedpur and Kalinganagar.
