Taiwan's ferro alloys imports increased by 19% to 31,406 t m-o-m in February 2023 compared to 26,361 t in January.
Sub commodity-wise imports
- Silico manganese imports drop: Imports decreased by 5% m-o-m to 8,412 t in February against 8,881 t in January. The major exporting countries were India (6,690 t) and Malaysia (1,751 t). As compared with the same period in 2022, imports decreased by 28% y-o-y to 17,293 t in January-February this year.
- Ferro manganese imports surge: Ferro manganese imports increased sharply by 104% m-o-m to 7,208 t in February against 3,529 t January. The major exporters were Malaysia (5,686 t) and Vietnam (396 t). Total imports decreased by 47% y-o-y to 10,373 t in January-February compared to 20,290 t in the year-ago period.
- Ferro chrome imports up nearly 55%: Ferro chrome imports rose by 54% m-o-m to 10,565 t in February against 6,850 t in January. India exported 3,011 t, followed by Mozambique at 1,000 t. In January-February, imports fell by 41% to 17,415 t from 29,795 t in the same period last year.
- Ferro silicon shipments drop: Ferro silicon imports decreased by 26% m-o-m to 5,221 t in February against 7,101 in February 2022. The major exporters were China (1,625 t) and Russia (254 t). Meanwhile, imports fell by 15% y-o-y to 12,322 t in January-February this year compared with 14,449 t in January-February 2022.
