Taiwan's billet imports record 15-months low in May'20

Taiwan, one of the world's major billet importers, has marked continuous fall in its monthly billet imports and as per data analysed by SteelMint, the imports in May'20 have hit lowest since Feb'19.
Taiwan imported about 127,587 t billet in May'20 and prior to this lowest import was recorded in Feb'19 at 60,000 t. Also on a monthly basis May'20 imports fell by 30.7% against 184,048 t in Apr'20.
Inline imports of remaining products like Coal has seen a slight rise of 8.3% whereas Iron ore declined by 17.1%. On the other hand ferrous scrap imports increased on a monthly basis in May'20.
Following are the statistics:-
-- Coal imports have increased by 8.3% m-o-m to 6,522,623 t in May'20.
-- Iron ore imports have been slightly fall by 17.1% to 1,748,832 t as against 2,110,061 t in April'20
-- Ferrous scrap import has surged by 18.9% & stood at 321,482 t.
-- Taiwanese ferro alloys imports surged a little by 1.7% in May'20 from 35,094 t in Apr'20.
