Taiwan: Iron Ore Imports Up 2% in CY18

Taiwan iron ore imports for the year of CY18 recorded at 24.19 MnT. The imports recorded rise of 2% as against 23.67 MnT in CY17.

In Dec'18, the imports witnessed rise of 14% to 2.18 MnT as against imports in Nov'18 at 1.92 MnT. On yearly basis, imports increased 52% against 1.43 MnT in Dec'17.

Taiwan crude steel output up 4% in CY18

Taiwan's crude steel output in CY18 witnessed at 23.23 MnT, up 4% as against 22.44 MnT in CY17. Taiwan's Dec'18 output recorded at 2.02 MnT up against Nov'18 production at 1.96 MnT.

The Non-agglomerated ore (Lump and Fines) imports witnessed 2% rise in CY18 imports at 21.12 MnT as against 20.67 MnT in last month. On monthly basis, Dec'18 imports stood at 1.83 MnT, up 13% compared to 1.62 MnT in Nov'18.

Agglomerated ore (pellets and concentrates) imports in CY18 depicted at 3.07 MnT, up 2% as against 3.01 MnT in CY17. On monthly basis, Dec'18 imports recorded at 0.35 MnT, up 17% against 0.3 MnT in last month.

Australian iron ore exports to Taiwan down 3% in CY'18

Australia continues to be the largest exporter of iron ore to Taiwan in CY'18 at 16.87 MnT (down 3% Y-o-Y) accounting for 70% of total Taiwan's imports share for CY18. Brazil stood second largest exporter at 5.36 MnT (up 12% Y-o-Y) followed by Canada 1.81 MnT (up 24% on yearly basis).

Chinese exports to Taiwan recorded at 0.09 MnT as against nil exports in CY17.
