Taiwan: Iron Ore Imports Down 26% in Nov'18

Taiwan iron ore imports for the month of Nov'18 recorded at 1.92 MnT, down 26% as against 2.6 MnT in Oct'18. On yearly premises, the imports in Nov'18 recorded rise of 32% as against imports in Nov'17 at 1.46 MnT.
The country has depicted marginal fall in imports for the duration Jan-Nov'18 at 22.01 MnT as compared to Jan- Nov'17 at 22.23 MnT.
Taiwan crude steel output down in Nov'18
Taiwan's crude steel output in Nov'18 is expected at 1.8 MnT, down marginally as against 1.9 MnT in Oct'18. On yearly basis, Nov'18 production stood up against Nov'17 output at 1.7 MnT.
The Non-agglomerated ore (Lump and Fines) imports witnessed 28% fall in Nov'18 imports to 1.62 MnT as against 2.24 MnT in last month. The Y-o-Y imports in Nov'18 recorded 40% increase as against 1.16 MnT in Nov'17.
Agglomerated ore (pellets and concentrates) imports in Nov'18 depicted at 0.3 MnT, down 17% as against 0.36 MnT in Oct'18. However, the imports remained stable on yearly basis.
Australian iron ore exports to Taiwan down 30% on monthly basis
Australia continues to be the largest exporter of iron ore to Taiwan in Nov'18 at 1.29 MnT (down 30% M-o-M) accounting for 67% of total Taiwan's imports share for the month. Brazil stood second largest exporter at 0.39 MnT (down 30% M-o-M) followed by Canada 0.15 MnT (up 7% on monthly basis).
