Taiwan Billet Imports Surge 10% in November

Taiwan Billet imports increased in Nov'18 by 10% Y-o-Y, while it fell by 13% on M-o-M basis, SteelMint learned in recent released custom data.
Taiwan's Billet import recorded at 0.34 MnT in Nov'18, up by 10% as against 0.31 MnT in the same month of previous year. However, Billet imports was fall by 13% as against 0.39 MnT in Oct'18.
Meanwhile on a cumulative basis (Jan-Nov'18), Billet imports in Taiwan has increased by 12% and stood at around 3.31 MnT, which was about 2.92 MnT in the same period last year.
In the duration of Jan-Nov'18, Japan remains the largest Billet exporter to Taiwan with a contribution of 1.61 MnT (48.57%), followed by Russia 0.77 MnT (23.27%) & Vietnam 0.26 MnT (7.9%).
Prior to this, in CY17 (Jan-Dec) the country's Billet imports was at around 3.43 MnT.
Trade Updates:
-- Price assessment for USA origin HMS (80:20) in containers unchanged at USD 260-265/MT, CFR Taiwan as against last week.
-- The latest price assessment of Billet exports stood at USD 365-370/MT FoB Iran & USD 400/MT FoB Ukraine.
-- Taiwan stood as the 3rd largest exporter of finish flat steel to South Korea in CY18 with a contribution of 3% (0.21 MnT).
Taiwan Finish Long Steel Exports:
Taiwan has exported about 0.08 MnT finish long steel in the month of Nov'18 as against 0.07 MnT in Oct'18, up by 14% M-o-M. However on yearly basis, finish long steel exports has fallen by 20% as compared with 0.10 MnT in Nov'17.
On a cumulative basis, Taiwan's total finish long exports during Jan-Nov'18 stood at 0.98 MnT, moved up by 11% which was about 0.88 in Jan-Nov'17.
Australia was the largest importer for Taiwan's finish long steel with a contribution of 0.22 MnT (22.12%), followed by South Korea 0.09 MnT (9.22%), US 0.09 MnT (8.77%), Thailand 0.09 MnT (8.73%) & China 0.08 MnT (7.69%).
