SteelMint's daily steel billet index is assessed at INR 56,800/tonne (t) (-INR 100) exw Raipur on 2 Apr'22.
About 1,900 t of transactions in billets were recorded by SteelMint today as against 2,900 t on 1 April.
The index fell slightly on account of limited enquiries amidst aggressive selling by the traders. Thus, offers moved down in today's trade, while the producers kept prices strong.
Market participants are expecting billet prices to remain volatile on account of seasonal measured production and moderate demand. However, if demand for finished steel gains momentum, billet offers are expected to increase gradually, sources said.
