SteelMint's domestic steel scrap (end-cutting) index remained largely stable at INR 44,800/tonne (t) DAP Mandi Gobindgarh on 7 Feb'22 amidst slight fluctuations in semi-finished steel prices.
Scrap buyers booked only requisite quantities to run the plants, sources said.
Meanwhile, the availability of scrap in the market is still tight as supply from the surrounding markets remains impacted by GST checkings.
Further, standalone re-rollers (finished steel producers) informed that they are currently operating for 4-5 days in a week due to weak demand for the material amidst rising stockpile.
Today, 10 sets of trades, indicative prices/bids/offers were recorded in the publishing window.
The Index also derives the HMS 80:20 scrap (Heavy, Med), and CR busheling prices traded in the region.
