SteelMint: India's domestic steel scrap index falls INR 600/t on lower bids, easing supply

SteelMint's domestic steel scrap (end-cutting) index fell by INR 600/tonne (t) to INR 43,800/t DAP Mandi Gobindgarh on 10 Feb'22.

Considering dull finished steel sentiments, induction furnace units have lowered their bids for scrap, resulting in a fall in index.

Moreover, scrap arrival in the market has eased a bit on slightly better margins as a result of the positive trend seen recently.

However, standalone re-rollers are showing less interest in procuring the raw material (ingots/billets) due to bearish sentiments and are expecting that the semi-finished market will continue downtrending.

Today, 10 sets of trades, indicative prices/bids/offers were recorded in the publishing window.

The Index also derives the HMS 80:20 scrap (Heavy, Med), and CR Bushling cutting prices traded in the region.
