SteelMint Daily Trade Sheet - 28 Apr'23

SteelMint's bi-weekly domestic pellet (Fe 63%) index, PELLEX, inched down by INR 50/t to INR 9,250/t DAP Raipur on 28 April 2023 compared to the previous assessment on 25 April. PELLEX prices are largely stable owing to lack of trade in the region.

Indian sponge iron prices showed mixed trends on 28 April, with a price drop of INR 50-200/t seen in some key markets and a marginal rise of INR 100/t seen in Raigarh and Jharsuguda. Prices fell on weak buying activity and limited trade throughout the day. A total of 14,450 t of transactions were recorded on 28 April as against 14,870 t on 27 April.

SteelMint's billet index increased marginally by INR 50/t d-o-d on 28 April 2023 to INR 45,800/tonne (t) exw-Raipur. The index moved up as a result of increased offers in the northern region, supported by the volatile nature of the market. Transactions of around 3,280 t were recorded on 28 April as against 2,850 t on 27 April.
