SteelMint Daily Trade Sheet - 27 Dec'22

SteelMint's bi-weekly domestic pellets (Fe 63%) index, PELLEX, stood at INR 9,300/tonne (t), inching up by INR 50/t on 27 December compared to the last assessment on 23 December, 2022. Around 33,000 t of deals were reported.

Steel billets prices increased to INR 46,450/tonne (t) ( +INR 850) d-o-d exw-Raipur on 27 December, 2022. SteelMint's daily index rose tremendously as recent reports of the Chhattisgarh Electricity Board raising power rates may have an impact on prices in future. Billets transactions of around 2,500 t were recorded on 27 December in Raipur as against 5,300 t as reported on 26 December.

SteelMint's daily sponge iron CDRI index was assessed at INR 32,400/tonne (t) (+ INR 400) exw-Rourkela on 27 December, 2022. The uptick in the index can be attributed to active demand and higher offers from suppliers. About 5,720 t of transactions were recorded on 27 December as against 4,650 t on 26 December.
