SteelMint's billet index fell by INR 250/tonne (t) d-o-d to INR 42,500/t exw-Raipur on 21 August, 2023. Transactions for 1,900 t billet were recorded on 21 August against 750 t on 19 August.

Sponge iron prices in India decreased by INR 50-500/t on 21 August, 2023. About 14,420 tonnes (t) of sponge iron transactions were recorded in the country on 21 August compared to 7,290 t on 19 August.

SteelMint's domestic steel scrap (end-cutting) index remained range-bound, dipping slightly by INR 100/t to INR 41,000/t DAP Mandi Gobindgarh on 21 August, 2023.
