SteelMint Daily Trade Sheet - 17 Apr'23

SteelMint's domestic scrap (end-cutting) index edged up by INR 200/t d-o-d to INR 43,700/tonne (t) DAP Mandi Gobindgarh on 17 April, 2023. The index edged up as market saw limited demand in semi-finished and finished steel.

Sponge iron prices in India climbed up by INR 50-500/tonne (t) in key markets, giving a positive turn to spot transactions. Despite higher offers from suppliers, the market experienced increased trading activity. A total of 21,710 t of transactions were recorded on 17 April as against 7,370 t on 15 April.

SteelMint's daily steel billet index climbed by INR 350/t on April 17, 2023, to INR 46,950/tonne (t) exw-Raipur. Active demand followed by a surge in steel prices in the northern region led to the hike in the index. About 6,340 t of spot billet transactions were recorded on 17 April as against 1,700 t on 15 April.
