South Korea's colour-coated sheets sales up marginally in CY'21 ...
South Korea's domestic colour-coated steel sheets sales grew 1.8% y-o-y in CY'21, the lowest growth amongst all the four quarters.
Meanwhile, global sales of colour-coated steel sheets in CY'21 increased by 21% compared to CY'20. Sales of colour-coated steel sheets increased mainly in Thailand, Europe, North America and Central and South Americas, according to the Korea Steel Association.
Domestic and overseas sales
South Korea's domestic sales of colour-coated steel sheets in Dec'21 were at 89,376 tonnes (t), down 7.6% compared to the same month year-ago. Overseas sales increased by 11.3 % to 90,487 t. Geographies where exports of coloured steel sheets decreased in December were Southeast Asia (15.599 t, down 8.2% from the previous year), Southwest Asia (13878 t, down 10.1% from the previous year), and Oceania (4,974 t, down 8.2% from the previous year).
On the other hand, regions where sales of the material in CY'21 increased were Thailand (8,269 t, up 3.8% from the previous year), Europe (33,504 t, up 20% from the previous year), North America (18,818 t, up 75.5% from the previous year, and Latin America (19,108 t, up 16% from the previous year).
Total sales volume in CY'21 stood at 2,319,192 t, up 10.4% y-o-y. Out of which, domestic sales increased by 1.8 % to 1,186,780 t, and overseas sales increased by 21.1 % to 1,132,412 t.
Production
Colour steel sheet production in Dec'21 were at 187,940 tonnes (t), up 4.9% from the same month of the previous year but inched down in Dec'21 by 6.2% m-o-m.
As a result, the cumulative output of colour steel sheets in CY'21 was assessed at 2,381,213 t, up 16.5% y-o-y.
