POSCO and Hyundai Steel, two major South Korean steel mills, have announced their repair schedules for cold rolling (CR) facilities from September 2022.
POSCO's schedule
Gwangyang works:
- CR mill-1 : Major repairs will be carried out from 10 October.
- CR mill-2 : Heavy repairs scheduled in December for two weeks.
- CR mill-3 : Major repairs scheduled from 21 September for 10 days.
- CR mill-4 : Heavy repairs scheduled from 9 November.
Pohang works:
- CR mill-1 : Major repairs will be carried out from 26 November for two weeks.
- CAL-3 (continuous annealing line): Heavy repairs schedule from 11 October.
Hyundai Steel's schedule
Dangjin works:
- CR mill-1 : Repairs scheduled from 9 September for two weeks.
- CR mill-2: Repairs scheduled from 24 September to early October.
The CR mill at the Suncheon works is scheduled for repairs from mid-October along with planned repairs at the continuous galvanising line and electrolytic galvanising line, which, in turn, will impact the production and sales of CR and coated products post September.
Outlook
Market participants expect that the recovery in demand from the construction and appliances industry will remain under pressure due to the continuous fall in imported offers.
