South Korea Iron Ore Imports from India Doubles in Jan'19

South Korea imported 0.2 MnT iron ore from India in Jan'19 against 0.11 MnT in Dec'18

World's 3rd largest iron ore importer - South Korea has witnessed rise in iron ore and pellet import volumes in Jan'19. The imports witnessed at 6.19 MnT, up 4% as against 5.97 MnT in Dec'18. However, the imports on yearly basis stood stable as against 6.22 MnT in Jan'18.

South Korea crude steel production up 2% in CY18

South Korea crude steel production for CY18 recorded at 72.46 MnT, up marginally against 71.03 MnT for CY17.

Agglomerated iron ore (pellets and concentrate) imports in Jan'19 witnessed at 0.41 MnT, up 41% M-o-M as against 0.29 MnT in Dec'18. On yearly basis, imports increased marginally as against 0.4 MnT in Jan'18.

Non-agglomerated iron ore (lumps & fines) imports in Jan19 recorded at 5.78 MnT, up slightly compared to 5.67 MnT in Dec18. Imports on yearly premises recorded slight decline as compared to 5.83 MnT in Jan'18.

Indian iron ore exports to South Korea up 82% in Jan19

In Jan19, Australia recorded largest exports to South Korea at 4.24 MnT, contributing 68% of total South Korean exports, up slightly against 4.18 MnT in Dec'18. Brazil stood second largest exporter at 0.9 MnT (up 17% M-o-M) followed by South Africa at 0.41 MnT.

Indian iron ore and pellet exports witnessed rise of 82% to 0.2 MnT as against 0.11 MnT in Dec'18.
