South Korea Flat Steel Imports Jumped 8% Y-o-Y in Apr'17

South Korea -is world's third largest steel exporter.In 2016 the nation has exported 22.5 MnT of steel against 22.9 MnT in 2015.However,South Korea's exports accounts for about 7% of all steel exported globally in 2015.

According to the latest customs data, South Korea flat steel imports which includes 7208 (HR coils /Plates),7209 (CR coils), 7225 (Electrical sheets),7210/7212(GP/GC) have recorded the growth of 8%,Y-o-Y basis in Apr'17 and stood at 0.93 MnT as compared to 0.86 MnT in Apr'16.

On monthly basis, South Korean flat steel imports, decline rigorously by 21% in Apr'17 against Mar'17. In Mar'17 the same stood at 1.17MnT.

During the period of Jan-Apr'17 country's flat steel imports rose by 3.2% to 3.83 MnT against 3.71MnT in similar time-frame of previous year.

Grade-wise South Korea Flat Steel Imports in Apr'17
If grade-wise analysis is made, then 7208 imports decline by 19.14%,M-o-M in Apr'17 against Mar'17 whereas 7225,7210 and 7209 also declined in Apr'17 against previous month. Although, grade 7212 rose significantly in Apr'17 against last month.

Country-wise South Korea flat steel imports in Apr'17-China remained the major flat steel exporter to South Korea and exported 6,17,517 MT in Apr'17 against 7,87,546 MT of flat steel in Mar'17.Other major flat steel exporting countries to South Korea in Apr'17 were Japan and Taiwan.
