South Korea Finish Long Steel Imports Drop by 11% in July

South Korea -world's 6th largest steel producer has reported decline in its Finish long steel imports and as per data maintained with SteelMint.

As per customs data, the nation has imported about 134,606 MT Finish long steel in Jul'18, decrease about 11.08% (16,782 MT) M-o-M against 151,388 MT in Jun'18.

Coming to total imports in CY 2018 (Jan-Jul), the nation has imported about 1,224,016 MT; down by around 36.34% as compared to 1,922,563 MT in the same preceding last year.

On yearly basis Jul'18 imports of the nation decline by 34.41% against 205,244 MT in Jul'17.

Sub-Commodity Wise

Under Finish Long commodities following HS Codes has been considered - Bar & Rod (HS Code 7213 & 7214), Angle & Shapes (HS Code 7215 & 7216) & MS Wire (HS Code 7217).

During Jul'18, Structure have contributed the major imports proportionate and registered at 59,534 MT up by 15.97% followed by Rebar 59,001 MT down by 30.93% and remaining MS Wire registered at 16,071 MT up by 9.85% m-o-m basis.

Country Wise

Out of total Finish Long imports in Jul'18, major imports origin by Japan registered at 60,698 MT (+7.97%) followed by China 53,522 MT (-26%) and Vietnam registered at 17,178 MT (-10.13%).
