South Korea: Ferro Alloys Imports Down in Jan'19 by 14.05% M-o-M

South Korean Ferro Alloys imports were down by 14.05% in Jan'18 M-o-M the total imports were 83,763MT as compared to Dec'18 which was 97,454MT. However, a growth of 18.57% Y-o-Y was noticed.
Ferro Chrome accounted for 56% of the total Ferro alloys imports and Ferro Silico and Silico Manganese stood for 30% and 14% respectively.
Ferro Chrome Imports
Total Ferro Chrome imports in South Korea were 46,884 MT in Jan'19 which accounted for a 32.02% fall M-o-M and a minor fall of 1.18% Y-o-Y. Indian Ferro Chrome accounted for 43% of the total imported Ferro Chrome quantities. Imports from India inched down by 4.30% but made a remarkable hike on Y-o-Y basis. Imports from Kazakhstan were 29% of the total volume imported and it went high by 142.38% M-o-M and 87.48% Y-o-Y . Imports from South Africa were however low in Jan'19. imports from South Africa fell by 70.31% M-o-M and 59.71% Y-o-Y.
Ferro Silicon Imports
Total Ferro Silicon imports in Jan'19 were 25,302 MT which was high by 22.16% M-o-M and 64.49% Y-o-Y. China is the biggest exporter for South Korea with 61% of the total Ferro Silico Imports. The quantity imported from China were 15,482MT which was 12.27% high M-o-M and 31% Y-o-Y. Imports from Russia went remarkably high in Jan'19 to 4,766 MT as compared to previous month and almost two times to that of jan'18. Imports from Russia accounted for 19% of the total Ferro Silicon Imports. Malaysian Exports to South Korea however fell by 15.27% M-o-M to 3,496MT which was a remarkable hike as compared to the previous year Jan.
Silico Manganese Imports
Total Ferro Silicon Imports of South Korea was 11,577 MT in Jan'19 which was remarkably high as compared to the previous month and same period previous year. Imports were high by 48.98% M-o-M and 48.06% Y-o-Y. Malaysia was the major exporter of Silico Manganese for South Korea in Jan'19 with 87% of the total import quantity of Silico Manganese. Malaysia experienced a hike of 86.16% M-o-M and a significant hike from 3,303MT in Jan'18 to 10,308MT in Jan'19. India and Vietnam contributed to 8% and 5% of the shares respectively. Import market of South Korea shifted its market from India and Vietnam to Malaysia.
