South Korea's cold-rolled (CR) steel sheets sales aggregated to 712,000 tonnes (t) in Jan'22, higher by 13% against 628,000 t seen a month ago. On a yearly basis, sales volume registered a marginal growth of 1% against 702,000 t in Jan'21.
Sales of cold-rolled steel sheets in the domestic market accounted for 281,000 t out of total sales in Jan'22, up 12% against 251,000 in Dec'21, but down 5% compared to 295,000 t in Jan'21.
Export volumes rose 14% to 431,000 t in Jan'22 in contrast with 377,000 t a month ago. Also, on y-o-y basis, the same went up 6% against 407,000 t seen in Jan'21.
Exports to key countries increase
Exports to Malaysia stood at 15,380 t (up 6.3%), Europe at 26,553 t (up 51.3%) and Latin America at 62,802 t (up 71.5%) in Jan'22.
Production volumes rose 9%, m-o-m
Korean mills' churned out 722,000 t of CR steel sheets in Jan'22, up 9% compared to 664,000 t a month ago. However, on an annualised basis, the same dropped marginally by 1% against 728,000 t in Jan'21.
