South Korea: Color steel sheet sales down 8% m-o-m in Nov'21

Color steel sheet sales of South Korean mills aggregated to 0.19 million tonnes (mn t) in Nov'21, of which domestic sales accounted for 0.09 mn t (down 12% m-o-m) while exports stood at 0.10 mn t (down 4% m-o-m).

On a monthly basis, total sales volume edged down by 8% against 0.21 mn t in Oct'21. However, on an annualised basis, the same remained largely stable compared to Nov'20.

During Jan-Nov'21, cumulative sales volume stood at 2.14 mn t, up marginally by 2% compared to the same period last year.

Region wise sales y-o-y

Color steel sheet sales increased to Japan, Bangladesh, Central Asia, Europe, Latin America and Oceania by 38%, 48%, 115%, 46%, 32%, and 82% respectively in Nov'21.

On the other hand, shipments to China, South East Asia, South West Asia and North America decreased by 16%, 27%, 8% and 11% respectively in the month under review.

Production

In Nov'21, Korean mills produced 0.20 mn t of color steel sheets, almost stable m-o-m. However, on an annualised basis, production volumes jumped 8% against 0.18 mn t seen in Nov'20.

In Jan-Nov'21, total production stood at 2.19 mn t, an increase of 7% against 2.04 mn t in the same period last year.
