South East Asia Remains Largest Destination for Iranian Billet Exports

Iran one of the largest billet exporter in world has exported around 5.90 MnT during CY'18 (Jan-Dec'18), registered a growth of 18% Y-o-Y against 5 MnT exported in CY'17. South East Asian countries were the largest importers of Iranian billet during the period.

Major Importers of Iranian Billet

Thailand was the largest importer of Iranian billet in CY'18, the nation imported 1.37 MnT billet from Iran during the period. Export to Thailand registered a growth of 10% Y-o-Y despite US sanctions owing to which the nation decreased its import from Iran.

Indonesia was the second largest importer of Iranian billet, the nation imported 1.09 MnT billet from Iran in CY'18. Export to Indonesia increased by more than 100% Y-o-Y amidst US sanctions.

Other major importers includes UAE (1.05 MnT), Egypt (0.67 MnT) and Oman (0.40 MnT).

Major Steel Exporters from Iran

As per the data released by IMIDRO, Major Iranian steelmakers exported around 4,365,570 MT of Steel during first nine months of current Persian year (21 Mar-22 Dec'18).

Khouzestan Steel Company (KSC) was by far the largest exporter during the period, the company exported around 1,664,172 MT steel during the period. The company registered a downfall of around 16% Y-o-Y.

Mobarekeh Steel Company (MSC) was the second largest exporter of steel during the period, the company exported 747,587 MT in 9 months, registered a downfall of 5% Y-o-Y.

Esfahan Steel Company (ESCO) exported 676,376 MT of steel during the nine months of current Persian year. Exports were down by 16% Y-o-Y.

Other major exporters includes South Kaveh Steel (535,300 MT), Hormozgan Steel Company (HOSCO) (498,743 MT) and Khorasan Steel (164,731 MT).
