South Asia: Imported scrap trade continues on limited quantities

After recording the latest deal of Turkiye concluded at higher prices,imported scrap buyers of South Asian country turned cautious and are booking hand to mouth and are waiting to understand the further market trend.

Bangladeshi containerised sellers are not offering whereas few deals of US origin bulk cargo was heard. On the other hand, Pakistan's imported scrap market remained strong despite subdued finished steel sentiments.

Recent deals

  • A total of 500 t shredded scrap from Europe origin was traded at $455/t, CFR Qasim.

  • In another deal, 500 t HMS of UK origin deal concluded at $425/t, CFR Nhava Sheva.

  • UK-origin shredded scrap prices were at $455/t CFR Qasim, up by $2/t d-o-d.

  • Europe-origin shredded scrap offers in India stood at $455-460/t CFR Nhava Sheva, up by $5/t d-o-d.

  • UK-origin shredded prices were at $470/t CFR Chittagong stable d-o-d.
