South Asia: Imported scrap prices continue uptrend

South Asia imported scrap prices surged after recent Turkey deals. Amid increasing offers buyers retreated to the sidelines today and are expected to wait and watch the market trends next week. However, a few deals were heard in India's imported scrap market.

  • Around 2,000 t Europe origin HMS (80:20) are being traded at $425/t, CFR Nhava Sheva. SteelMint's assessment for shredded scrap stands at $455/t CFR Nhava Sheva, up by $5/t against yesterday.

  • SteelMint's assessment of UK-origin shredded scrap stands at $480-485/t CFR Bangladesh, significantly up by $20/t d-o-d.

  • SteelMint's assessment of UK-origin shredded scrap stands at $450/t CFR Pakistan, an increase of $3/t from yesterday.
