South Asia: Imported scrap prices continue to head north

With a recent deal concluded in Turkiye at high prices, the global scrap market gained momentum. Pakistani mills actively booked containerised material while major Bangladesh mills showed their interest in booking the bulk cargo as its prices are relatively lower than containers. In India, imported prices rose due to the limited availability of scrap domestically.

  • A total of 2,000 t of shredded scrap deals were concluded at $445/t, CFR Qasim. SteelMint's assessment of UK-origin shredded scrap stands at $445-450/t CFR, an increase of $5/t against yesterday.

  • SteelMint's assessment of UK-origin shredded scrap stands at $460-465/t CFR Bangladesh, unchanged d-o-d.

  • The current price of shredded scrap stands at $450/t CFR Nhava Sheva, up by $5-10/t against yesterday.
