The South Asian scrap market exhibited volatility today. Bangladesh, which was mute till recently, has actively booked a couple of bulk cargoes from the UK and USA. The Pakistan market witnessed a fall in scrap offers today after Turkey's deal was concluded late evening yesterday at a lower price. Indian buyers were silent due to bid-offer disparity.
- Around 2,000 t of UK-origin HMS scrap was booked in containers at $530/t CFR Chittagong. SteelMint's assessment for UK-origin shredded scrap stands at $550/t CFR Bangladesh, up $10/t d-o-d.
- Pakistani mill booked 300 t shredded scrap of UK origin at $515/t CFR Qasim. As per SteelMint's assessment, Europe-origin shredded scrap stands at $520/t CFR Qasim, down $3/t d-o-d.
