South Africa Pig Iron Exports Rise by 14% in October

South Africa pig iron exports surge by around 7,600 MT (14%) in Oct'18 against last month & recorded two month high , according to the customs.

The nation has exported about 62,843 MT pig iron during Oct'18 against 55,234 MT in Sep'18, surge by 13.78% M-o-M and the major imports were United States at 17,440 MT (27.75%) followed by Netherlands at 9,500 MT (15.1%) & India at 9,417 MT(14.9%) of Pig iron from the nation. Inline exports to the Taiwan being increased to 5,500 MT, which was nil since last two months.

Coming to total exports in CY18 (Jan-Oct) it has been registered at 489,953 MT, rise by 22.17% on yearly premises against 401,029 MT in the same period during 2017.

In the month of Oct'18, the crude steel production of South Africa was around 543,300 MT and in CY18 (Jan-Oct) it was approximately 5,376,200 MT. Meanwhile, in CY17 the figure of crude steel production stood at 6,301,800 MT, & 6,139,300 MT in CY16.

-- Presently, export offers of iron ore lumps, Fe 64%, South Africa are at USD 89/MT CNF India.

-- South Africa Iron Ore Exports to India inclined 95% M-o-M & stood at 225,044 MT in Oct'18 as against 115,400 MT in Sep'18.

-- South African RB2 (5500 NAR) coal offers are assessed at USD 60/MT on FoB basis & USD 74/MT CNF India.
