South Africa: Pig Iron Exports Climb 19% in Jan-Sep 2018

South Africa pig iron exports surge by around 67,000 MT (19%) in Jan-Sep'18 against the same period in the calendar year of 2017, according to the custom.
The nation has exported about 427,110 MT Pig iron in Jan-Sep'18 against 360,303 MT in Jan-Sep'17, surge by 18.54% on yearly premises.
In the month of Sep'18, South Africa has exported about 55,234 MT pig iron as against 53,115 MT in Aug'18, surge by 4% M-o-M. In the month, imports from India rise sharply & stood at 12,938 MT. Inline United States topped the list with 16,400 MT Pig iron of imports from the nation.
The crude steel production of South Africa was around 572,900 MT in Sep'18, surge by 8.48% M-o-M, and in CY18 (Jan-Sep) it was approximately 4,832,900 MT. Meanwhile, in CY17 the figure of crude steel production stood at 6,301,800 MT, & 6,139,300 MT in CY16.

-- South African RB2 (5500 NAR) coal offers are assessed at USD 72/MT on FoB basis & USD 87/MT CNF India.
