Indian Slab Exports Regain Momentum on Renewed Buying from China

Indian mills have been exploring export opportunities since lock-down imposition amid dull domestic demand. Also active Chinese buying interest amid limited inventories have supported Indian steel export sentiments further. After booking good volumes of billet, pig iron, HRC Indian mills have concluded slab export deals recently, SteelMint learned from its credible sources.

-- An Indian steel mill is learned to have closed a deal for 30,000 MT slab (Q235B/SS400) export at around USD 350-355/MT, FoB via tender. The material shipment is scheduled for end Jun'20.

-- A private Indian steel mill has recently concluded deal for 40,000 MT slab to China at around USD 360-365/MT, CFR.

-- SAIL has floated a fresh export tender for 30,000 MT slab (Q235B/SS400 specification) for end Jun shipment. The bid due date is today till 16:00 hrs.
