SE Asia: Imported Scrap Trades Remain Slow; Offers Range-Bound

Vietnam - Imported scrap offers to Vietnam remained almost stable or marginally moved up week, while bookings remained very slow on account of limited demand on holidays early last week and low bids by buyers.

Japanese H2 offers in bulk vessels to Vietnam stood at around USD 245/MT CFR South Vietnam, at similar levels as last week's USD 243/MT CFR. While offers for North Vietnam stood at USD 251-253/MT CFR. No major deals were observed last week as buyers from South Vietnam were reported to be bidding at USD 233-235/MT CFR. Fresh offers for higher grade scrap like HS and Shin Dachi were not released in the market as yet, amid less interest from buyers.

Among lower grades, Hong Kong origin AB (50:50) were offered at USD 246/MT CFR, however bids remained significantly at USD 240/MT for North Vietnam and USD 235/MT CFR by mills in South Vietnam.

USA origin HMS 1&2 (80:20) in bulk was reportedly offered at USD 265/MT CFR.

Indonesia - Fresh offers for P&S scrap from Deep-sea origins were reported in the range of USD 256-260/MT CFR Jakarta, while bids were recorded at USD 250/MT CFR. HMS 1&2 (80:20) from the USA in 40 ft containers was assessed at USD 225/MT CFR. Bookings remained slow for 2nd week in a row.

Thailand - Central American HMS offers were reported at around USD 220/MT, CFR Thailand, stable against last week.
